I Think Tuiaki has limited himself. What we saw Saturday is what we’ve seen almost every weekend for the last 5 seasons. Last year our bull rush worked because of talent gaps.

There is no reason someone like Batty, with his size and speed, shouldn’t be disrupting a play almost regularly.

Now… with that said- a few things with Batty and Pepe. The bull rush brings them inside where they are supposed to normally go wide for contain and to keep everything inside so the DL can make the tackle- but our DL is lazy. They take plays off consistently.

When Kalani says “play your 1/11th”, he means it. Not everyone is meant to make the tackle. For example- on a swing pass/WR screen, the first guys job is usually to take out the blocker and maintain the outside so the WR has to go inside. If he does his job, and the WR has to go inside, then there should be 2-3 guys there. It’s when the first guy tries to play “hero ball” that things go badly. He wants to make the play, but his assignment isn’t to make the tackle.
