So I hear that argument that batters are worried about their own OPS from a contract standpoint. But most of that is
Based on the slugging component. And if I'm not mistaken, a bunt is worth 2000 in that calculation. So if you successfully bunted every time you were at bat, you would be crushing the rest of the majors in OPS.

So it really dispels the need of going for the HR from a personal stats standpoint.

Now if you're a team that relies on the long ball, I get that. But imagine what would happen if the defense shifted against two or three of your guys and they were all able to bunt safely. All of a sudden, you've got an extra two or three baserunners per nine batters. You wouldn't need the long ball nearly so much because you've got a whole lot of additional opportunities to drive in a run.
