Pitchers are athletic enough to field a decent amount of bunts.
I'm assuming only right-handed hitters even have a chance to get a bunt on a base hit. The reason being - if you're a left handed hitter and you bunt it too hard - the first baseman is right there anyway. Bunt it too soft, and it's an easy play for a pitcher or catcher.

Right handed hitters probably fare a bit better when it comes to bunting - but they still need to make the bunt past the pitcher.

Obviously I concur that everybody should be able to do it... but it's definitely a nuanced problem.
