Courts don't matter at all.
IIRC, Zeke Elliott was already cleared by the courts, and the lone league investigator, who happens to be a woman, recommended against any discipline, yet they suspended him anyway.
If they wait for the courts, as a show that they are following some protocol, they will still do whatever they want to the player regardless of the legal outcome.
