turned down BYU. There is a certain, small percentage of any fanbase that will act like jack-yewts when the coach/player leaves the team/school....including high level boosters and even people associated with the school. I wish it wasn't like that, but that is just the way it is. Most coaches with class handle it just fine, don't let it taint how they feel about the school itself (which has nothing to do with that small minority), and go about their lives with a positive attitude towards the school or team (as they should).

This isn't just BYU fan perception...Whitt acts like that with every single reporter that asks him to comment on BYU. The fact that Whitt is cool with Sitake/LaVell behind closed doors even makes him more petty when he is in front of the camera and public eye. I could even argue Bronco may have even had it worse than Whitt based on what I have read/heard. Bronco has gone on record stating his kids were mocked/ridiculed at school, fans would talk to him inside the temple, and he received all kinds of letters, complaints from boosters, etc. You don't see Bronco trashing BYU, acting like they are small time, and not acknowledging all the good BYU did for him after he left, but Bronco is actually a good guy that is very humble and realizes the bigger picture.
