I will note that minimalist shoes force you to change your stride. You have to
get up on your toes, so no more heel-striking, and your running posture changes. I think my strides might be a bit shorter and quicker (hopefully) now. You'll notice that your feet and ankles tire out faster, so you have to start with low mileage and build up. I think the stride is actually more anatomically natural, which I think is the reason that it helps.
