An entire season without encouraging Tuiaki to change or taking over duties himself if Tuiaki didn’t change.

We assume because we don’t like it that it’s not actually pretty darn close to exactly what Kalani wants. He wants more pressure I’m sure but maybe that’s more of a player thing than a scheme thing in his mind.

We’ve also got a first-time DE coach. Typical teams end up getting pressure from the DE position with some regularity as they are able to beat blocks. It happened occasionally this year but Batty and Lopa weren’t consistent pass rushing threats. That makes sense in a rush three scenario but we brought four quite a bit and it still didn’t help. That means nobody is beating a one on one block with any regularity. That could be coaching or skill, but it’s not necessarily scheme. At some point you need a D1 DE to beat a D1 OT and that didn’t happen enough.

So do you take a risk and bring a fifth and lose a coverage guy but maybe still not get pressure? We don’t know really how Kalani feels about this…I would think if he wanted to bring 5/6 more then we would have brought five or six more…but we don’t know.
