Our dog (1 year old Bordoodle) was sitting on the couch and our 3-year old son got close. Our dog wasn't having it, showed its teeth, and growled, but our son didn't understand and leaned in closer to give the dog a kiss. Our dog snapped at him and gave our son a deep gash an inch below his eye.
We are kind of at a lost about what to do. Our dog is almost always fine, but he can get pretty scared/anxious at times and hasn't been the best around kids (though no other real instances of aggression beyond barking or showing teeth). Without some change in the dog's personality with age, I could see this happening again. Our immediate reaction is to try to "re-home" him if possible. We don't want to do it, and it would be hard on our two kids, but I am thinking we may not have much choice. We got him as a puppy at 2 mos old at the end of 2020.
Anyone dealt with a similar situation? CB has always been a great resource for tough issues like this.
