I have had success asking for a discount when I explain that I am willing to pay
The bill in full that day. I don't think I have ever been denied a discount. The discounts have ranged from 50% to 10%. I would say most of the time it has been around 25%. This generally only works with hospitals and I have only ever had to play hard ball with a couple of Drs that were not providing appropriate care.
