Be ready for opportunities. Embrace them. Your spouse needs to be willing to embrace them and the changes that come
with them.
Reality. Progressing on a level described will not happen without moving farther than 100 miles from mommy and daddy.
Your kids will survive without soccer teams, gymnastics, book club, etc. Even a youth who is going into their senior year will survive.
And those are reasons that many people choose NOT to follow all the suggestions given above. Because change is HARD, and being farther away from kids, grandkids, and moving away from friends is not easy. So, lots of people decide that having 'enough' to live on, put a little for a rainy day, and a plan for retirement is good enough.

Another way of looking at this is sometimes transferring in hopes of getting more playing time doesn’t work out
