So CA will not be all EV by 2035, but probably closer to 2055. You could run a TON of powerplants with the extra barrels of oil not being used by extremely inefficient ICE engines. Just imagine the benefit of using that same oil in a more efficient power plant. We already use Oil for power plants, mostly in Hawaii, but also in St George area and they seem to work fine. Well, they work better than my last car's engine did. Plus America is going to need to rebuild hundreds of power plants anyway as we are still using old technology and old systems in far too many plants.
Couple links to see Barrels of oil used for electricity and electric output in the USA.(Barrels used and MWH output)
For those of you who want "Zero Emissions" and "Completely Green Energy". MY guess is that will never happen as oil/Nat Gas/ Coal are so much easier to store and easily used as peaker plant options. But the idea of moving from inefficient ICE engines in our cars to more efficienct oil/gas/nuclear is a no brainer as it is less money, less resources, and less CO2 production in each case.
