RalphWiggam You wish I was your lover
If you think the timeline for history in Germany begins with Prussia maybe that’s the problem…
No…germany isn’t Rome or Athens…but few places are. And having been to both places I can say they are certainly great…but they offer essentially one thing. Germany offers a taste of what they do and then so much more.

The Pergamon Museum is incredible with all kinds of ancient history, including the Ishtar gate, and the Pergamon Alter. Incredible pieces. The Cologne Dom and the Ulm Munster rival any church in Europe and they are just the beginning.

Charlemagne permitted Aachen to essentially become the seat of the HRE, his place of birth and burial spot. The cathedral there is where Emperors were crowned for the next several centuries.

Burg Eltz, the Heidelberg Castle…too many castles to name, predate Prussia by several centuries…and of course, the ornate palaces at Potsdam which are every bit equal to Versailles, along with the Mad Kind Ludwig’s castles in the south (albeit much newer) are incredible to see.

The Black Gate in Trier almost looks like it comes from the lord of the rings.

Medieval cities like Rotherburg or Ladenburg are unique in their own right…

If you’re interested in history…Germany has more than enough to keep you entertained.
