There are some data points that indicate we may be past that stage already.

For example a recent survey showed 40% of homeowners were taking second jobs or going into debt specifically because their home ownership costs were higher than they anticipated. That does not leave a lot of room for side hustles to keep pushing or even maintaining home prices.
