If the Jazz wanted next year's #1 pick (so they could draft Victor Wenbanyama), but had to trade Gobert to get it,
is there a team could you send him to that could still end up being the worst in the league?

Children:
You will, however, get three unprotected firsts for Rudy.

Nope. Not a chance IMO.

Plus they wouldn't be guaranteed the pick anyway

You’re not getting an unprotected first for Rudy.

Eh, not necessarily. For a competing team, possibly. But Jazz won't trade him

Not one that lands you Wenbanyama which is what the OP is asking.

Absolutely agree there. But any unprotected first is not out of the question.

No. Gobert makes any team good on D and he's super efficient on O.

No - quickly consider the options

Trade Rudy, tell Donovan that he's injured.

Trade them both

The thing people miss about trading Rudy & Donovan is that you’re also likely getting back a top 5 (or top 3) draft pick

Yeah that method has worked out so well for other teams huh?

Just the spurs, warriors, cavs, Celtics, 76ers, suns, grizzlies, mavericks, etc.

Really? What stars did they trade away to burn it all down? I'll wait.

The Warriors traded KD for Russell which got them Wiggins

None of those fit where the Jazz are at this point.

I can’t argue with that…no team has been in the exact position the Jazz are in

You also have to figure in the Jazz's location. It's not like they're in a big market that

Seems like even more reason to go after high draft picks now rather than wait
Charles Darwin
6/23/22 11:49am
Agreed, there's 5 options

You do realize that both are under contract for THREE more years right?

Yes and I disagree with your conclusion.

Giannis and the bucks is a go halfway example that worked
krindorr

Didn’t they get the 2nd pick when they got Jabari?
Charles Darwin
6/23/22 12:10pm
I mean...I guess. But it's not like Jabari Parker is what made them an elite team
krindorr
6/23/22 12:22pm
They did bottom out though. Giannis is of course the reason but they did tank
Charles Darwin
6/23/22 12:32pm
I mean, the Jazz had a top 5 pick that same year
krindorr
6/23/22 12:35pm
I’m not sure of the relevance of the Jazz pick

Those are teams whose fortunes changed with high draft picks.
