It provides the perfect stage for political theatre for all sides
Add to that there are significant anti-trust issues that the DOJ is going to go after it because 1.) it is high profile and 2.) extremely likely they prevail in court.

Maybe but I think that is still several more years away. And a 16 team playoff could change conversations fast.
