Because the PAC has NO leverage
Per Dennis Dodd, industry sources have said the new Big 12 TV deal will be worth WAY more than the PAC 12-2’s TV deal. Add to that, Washington, Oregon, and Stanford are waiting for and will jump on the first chance they get from the B1G. What PAC sympathizers don’t understand is there is NO incentive to join a conference where the top 3 remaining brands have no commitment of staying. Further, ASU, AZ, CU, and Utah realize they could be left in a MW level conference where the TV value will be even less. There is more incentive for them to go to a Big 12 that is relatively stable because its remaining brands are behind the top ACC brands on the pecking order. Those four know by going to the Big 12 they only increase that conference’s TV revenue and it provides more certainty as to what they will receive. The PAC has absolutely NO leverage here unless Washington, Oregon, and Stanford commit to a new GORs that lasts 20 years and has harsh exit fees. Who honestly believes those three will do that?
