It removes the PAC-12 as a competing entity which removes the risk of any Big 12
teams every leaving to the PAC-12. It also secures the Big 12 as the premier conference out west. Sure, the Big Ten would have Los Angeles. But the Big 12 would have essentially every other major media market in the Pacific and Mountain time zones (Seattle, Portland, Phoenix, Salt Lake, Denver). The only area they would really be missing out on is Northern California, but in this scenario I'm not sure where Stanford and California end up. Honestly, if we are taking the other 6 we may as well take 8 and go to 20 teams.
