I am in church often with people I wonder if they share my beliefs
A couple of older sisters in my ward, 1 especially, that I am fairly certain have some deeply held beliefs that I do not share. Other than long hair, I think most of my neighbors view me as fairly orthodox Latter Day Saint. I am more widely read in scripture, related books and scripture related books by other Christian writes (not a brag, I just enjoy reading these books).

I think recent politics have exacerbated this feeling. Many seem to have intertwined Trumpism with their beliefs. I'm pretty sure a neighbor who, previous to the pandemic, we would hang out with periodically now is in this group. Embraced the culture of berate others, taunt those that vaccinate/ wear masks. Haven't talked with her daughter, who moved out of state a few years ago, but I think that may have been one of the forces that drove her daughter out of the church (announced her loss of faith a week or 2 ago). I know the daughter was quite bothered by her mother's mean streak that I had never seen before, but was on full display regularly on Facebook.

Another neighbor has talked about Adam and Eve having green blood. Maybe Joseph or Brigham or some other prophet/ apostle talked/ wrote/ postulated that somewhere, but I haven't seen or read it. My wife taught Relief Society for a while and was instructed that it was important to kindly guide the discussion back on topic after this sister wandered down a rabbit hole.

I have lived coast to coast, north to far south in the US and outside the US 3 times. Outside the time I have lived between Davis and Utah Counties most neighbors (and many friends) were of different faiths. Inside Utah many friends are of different faiths, but most current neighbors are members of TCOJCOLDS, but plenty of friends from work and elsewhere that are not. Christian or non-Christian, I have found basic beliefs/ understandings/ expectations of most neighbors and friends to be closer to mine than not. It is mostly on the fringes that the differences are found (often not so important in day to day life).

I may be responding to the wrong point in the thread, but this came to mind as I was reading some of the comments in the lower portion of this thread.
