My experience with a Tesla Model 3 Performance
I am the type of driver that will beat the Google maps predicted driving time by about 5-10%. So I probably speed when driving a gas car. When driving an EV, I typically arrive 10% later than Google maps predicts.

The EVs as the OP said are not bad at long distance as long as you are not an overly aggressive driver and don't mind a slight increase in time penalty. But be wary the following 3.

#1 - The Superchargers choose your route, going off the beaten path to check out unique locations is not an option in most cases without incurring a major time penalty. Also, stopping because the kids/Other passengers need a break. . . This will be determined by supercharing locations.
#2 - Charging at or near your destination, it sucks to be so close and sitting in your car for 25 minutes when you would rather be with family or friends 10 minutes away. (If your host destination has good charging this is not an issue).
#3 -The price of supercharging and the price of gas are pretty close in general. The price of slow charging is far less expensive.

Then of course, expect to spend another 5-10 minutes traveling for every hour beyond the first 3 hours as the supercharging is slow compared to gas stations.

Honestly for all these reasons I am upgrading to the Lucid as I just want to supercharge 1-2 stops per day and despise the Tesla 20-25 minute stops that every 100 minutes Tesla recommends. I want to stop for 40 minutes every 4 hours get a meal or go shopping etc.
