At this point there isn't enough parity in CFB to justify the need for a 12 team
playoff. But transfer portal and a 12 team playoff might bring the parity sooner rather than later.
I have no problem with a 12 team playoff. But its more like a tournament than a real playoff. It will be fun. But I think critics are right. With a 12 team playoff you can be way less than elite . .. lose (or not even participate in) your championship game . . . and still get in. Teams will plan accordingly just like NFL teams do toward the end of the regular season. The larger the playoff structure the less meaning games leading up to it become.
