a point of diminishing returns and the mantra that more football is always better just isn't true.
I look at it right now, some of those arguing for 16 want all FBS conference champs in. Right now, before the CCGs are played, that would be Tulane (ranked #18, so not too bad, but they'd also be invited in the 12 team format), Ohio (anybody caught any Bobcats games lately? Anybody? Bueller?), BSU (coming off of close games to both Wyoming and USU), UTSA (that season ending 34-31 home game vs UTEP was a THRILLER!), and Troy (they did only lose by 18 to Ole Miss to open the season).
It doesn't get much better if you say, "Well, let's just take the top 2 of the G5." Okay, well, teams 13 and 14 are FSU (sole decent win on the season is LSU, losing to anybody else that was decent), and LSU (last seen getting clobbered by aTm). For me, I just don't need to see teams with 3 losses having a shot at the national title. And yes, I know that's going to happen with a 12 team bracket, but at least it will be a lot fewer of such teams than a 16 team bracket would have. Shoot, we'd eventually see 4 loss teams in a 16 team bracket.
