Being in Arizona I have been watching him play football for a long time. The first time I saw him play was against the high school I taught at, and together with Romney, they absolutely destroyed us. I was secretly very excited because I knew they were both going to BYU and that meant good things for the future.
Keep in mind during that time there was another quarterback who was also getting attention, Brock Purdy. As some of you are obviously aware, he is no starting for the 49ers.
In my opinion, Conover has been waiting to play for three years and he is seeing all the people he grew up with making big plays and big money and he wants a chance to do the same. He was pretty die hard BYU but I just don’t think the timing has been there. I have to think Jaren is coming back and that led to this decision. It also probably has something to do with the lack of usage throughout the season.
I don’t agree with a lot of you who are basing your views on his skills from the one throw you saw this season. The fact that there was only one throw is alarming to me, I don’t think it’s because he can’t throw. I know his old coach is now at ASU and I wouldn’t be surprised if they expressed interest in him. He’s a great kid and I will support him wherever he goes.
