With that said, I actually believe the issue isn’t necessarily with the code but with some of those that enforce it. I had a Spanish teach 1st year. One of my friends,a freshman too, showed up in a lava lava, slippers, and muscle tshirt. The teacher didn’t bat an eye. When he gave us some group work he called the kid outside and discussed it with him. He never showed up that way again and he told me he just talked with him and gave him good reasons why he should dress differently than he had that day. It made a positive impact and nobody went crying or yelling because they felt persecuted, singled out, or threatened. It’s the honey vs vinegar scenario.
