It's worse because nobody will see it. If you are trying to put together a
portfolio that delivers revenue by viewership for future media agreements, individually or as a conference, you are going to want to be seen. If the PAC can't secure a network agreement with a major partner, who is going to watch? Who is going to shill the games? What recruits are going to go and play where they will never have their highlights shown on the biggest stages?

The money could potentially be there, but honestly no fancy facilities and inflated coach's salaries are going to make up for the lack of visibility. Even with a good network media partner, without games in the LA market the viewership would suffer. Taking the double hit of no network and no LA, is going to be a tough pill to swallow.

If the schools all want to see it to the end in solidarity, that's understandable, but it won't help their cause when it comes to the next round of negotiations. Every one of those schools will be in a weaker position, despite whatever they can earn in this last hurrah.
