Because of this I have muted my family members and friends on SM that flaunt it.
I have a friend who's been very fortunate in the business world. He also like to make sure everyone knows (he has always been about status/check the box). So every year he makes a post about his adventures for the year listing out all the different and random places he has been that year. I have a cousin who can't help but post all their escapades they go on from their inheritance money from their grandpa passing away. Another one posting about how awesome their new Mazeratti is and how if you are successful you can have one too. He's the type that even likes his own posts.

It's a pretty common thing I've noticed. Everyone flaunting all their trips, new purchases, cars, houses, etc. We've stopped learning how to validate ourselves and are searching for validation from others. So I just mute the ones that do it. Then I don't see their stuff and I don't get that temptation to compare. Because no matter how hard we try, it is human nature to do so IMO. I went on an awesome vacation a week ago. Did I post about it? Nope. Don't need to. Those memories are mine and that's what matters. I'm going on another fun vacation next week (crazy I don't travel that much.) Probably won't post about that one either. Social media has honestly turned into a cancer that sets unreal expectations on people and families. Too many go into debt for a week in California. Too many spend all their extra money to take a trip to Hawaii instead of setting themselves up to be able to do it few years in a much better financial situation.
