For the record, these are not real offers. They may have aspects that are similar to real offers though.
Offer 1: 3 steps below director level. Most of the prior team was laid off or fired in the last year. The company realizes the big oopsie that was and you’re coming in to basically clean up the mess then make the function strong again.
Compensation: base $190K stock $130K in public company so this is liquid.
Offer 2: The function you’ll be working in doesn’t exist. You cold called the company and convinced them they should hire you to start the function so lots of work to take things from 0 to 1 and then establish youself in the company. If successful, you’re kind of a hero in the company. Cool company. Pre-IPO so stock not tradeable, but plans are IPO as soon as market turns.
Compensation: base $180K stock $110K
Offer 3: consulting for tech companies. One of literally a few of such positions in your profession. Very valuable experience in the long run for future opportunities. Great boss. Actually decent WLB for a consulting gig with very little travel.
Compensation: $200K base 40% target bonus
Offer 4: VERY early startup. You would be employee 5 after the 4 founders. Still in stealth mode. Launching soon. Huge potential providing an essential product that’s important as the EV market matures with virtually no competitors at this point. Founders consist of a Harvard grad CEO with transportation and VC experience, someone who has founded two companies already, one of which has raised $125M, a lawyer who fits the role perfectly, and an engineer who was a leader in Hyundai Cradle - Hyundai’s innovation arm.
Compensation:$190K base, 0.5% equity.
