Not it isn’t. It depends on what they said. If they said, “We’re going to pay
you “x,” pay you an amount based on sales, and make a payment [to BYU]” it isn’t convoluted at all. A third grader could understand it.
It’s possible it wasn’t communicated well or the players weren’t paying attention (shocking that not every football player is a genius). But the concept isn’t remotely difficult to envision.
