Average Sagarin Score of Each PAC/XII Member over the last decade - seems hard to have anyone besides Oklahoma St as #1

Here's the average Sagarin Score (not rank since the difference between #3 and #13 can be a LOT more than the difference between #43 and #53) for each PAC and XII team over the last decade

  1. Oklahoma St 82.82
  2. Oregon 82.78
  3. Washington 82.49
  4. TCU 81.35
  5. Utah 81.17
  6. Baylor 79.94
  7. Kansas St 79.44
  8. Stanford 78.47
  9. West Virginia 76.25
  10. Arizona St 76.21
  11. Iowa St 75.32
    PAC AVERAGE 74.99
    XII AVERAGE 74.91
  12. Washington St 74.45
  13. BYU 74.39
  14. UCF 73.64
  15. Texas Tech 73.61
  16. Cincinnati 72.48
  17. Houston 71.84
  18. Cal 70.76
  19. Arizona 68.64
  20. Oregon St 68.09
  21. Colorado 66.87
  22. Kansas 57.81

Which puts both Oklahoma St and TCU ahead of Utah.  That's not a slight on Utah, they still grade out well - but they're very clearly not ahead of every Big 12 team.

Even if you modify it to give a weighted average (with more credit towards recent years - 10x for 2022, 9x for 2021, 8x for 2020 and so on down to 1x for 2013), Utah doesn't come out ahead.... but it does have a major negative impact for some schools (Stanford, Arizona) and positive for others (Iowa St, Cincinnati).  Overall, it definitely points out that the Big 12 is trending up, while the PAC is trending down

  1. Oklahoma St 82.67 (-0.15)
  2. Utah 81.95 (+0.78)
  3. Oregon 81.42 (-1.36)
  4. Washington 81.19 (-1.3)
  5. TCU 80.24 (01.11)
  6. Kansas St 79.07 (-0.37)
  7. Iowa St 78.62 (+3.31)
  8. Baylor 78.47 (-1.47)
  9. West Virginia 76.31 (+0.06)
    XII AVERAGE 75.41 (+0.50)
  10. Cincinnati 75.40 (+2.92)
  11. Arizona St 75.11 (-1.10)
  12. UCF 74.77 (+1.13)
  13. BYU 74.74 (+0.34)
  14. Washington St 74.21 (-0.23)
  15. Texas Tech 74.00 (+0.39)
    PAC AVERAGE 73.99 (-1.01)
  16. Stanford 73.71 (-4.77)
  17. Houston 71.35 (-0.49)
  18. Cal 71.16 (+0.39)
  19. Oregon St 69.55 (+1.46)
  20. Colorado 65.98 (-0.89)
  21. Arizona 65.58 (-3.06)
  22. Kansas 59.30 (+1.48)

Only Utah, Cal, and Oregon St have been improved over the last 5 years compared to the 5 previous to that... and for Cal and Oregon St that mostly has to do with having such a terrible performance from 2013-2017

While this all looks solid enough for Utah specifically, it also shows why the PAC is in trouble.  Utah, Oregon and Washington have been playing at a high level... but nobody else.  6 of the bottom 9 teams are from the PAC and only 3 from the XII.  And 4 of the weakest 6 in the XII are the 4 newbies who should improve greatly with better resources.

Ignoring those new additions, the only Big 12 teams that have been worse than the 4th best PAC team (Arizona St) are Texas Tech and Kansas.
