It always seems to work out. I agree though that cost seem out of control.
Granted my grandparents bought there house for 8k in the 60s and my parents paid 70k in the early 90s and we paid in the 300k range in 2020, That’s almost 10x in 30 years and then another 5x since the 90s.

I overall think expectations need to adjust though in what is necessary in a house and what is nice to have. Don’t need the nicer finishes that so many of us have become accustomed to.

I agree though rent prices are insane, it’s hard to save any money for a down payment.
