It all depends on how good the team is. There was virtually no hockey interest in Vegas 6 years ago. Knights show up…
October 1 happens just before the first game, and they make it to the Stanley Cup Finals in season 1 and this town went from no hockey to now more closely resembling an Edmonton suburb.
Kids hockey leagues exploded, knights stuff is everywhere, and it is often the hottest ticket in town.
If the Utah team is good early on…SLC will easily become a hockey town.

It all comes down to winning. Hockey didn’t catch on in Phoenix because the team has 1 division championship in 30 years
