We stayed at the Ali'i with kids many years ago, really loved the place.
Now, when it's just my wife and I, we preferred the Lahaina Shores and walking into Lahaina for dinner each night. (which was mainly just walking 2 blocks to the Paia Fish Market.... RIP)
Lahaina Shores is also on the list to disallow short term rentals.
