Easy for lawyers.
But I really think there’s something to be said for that intangible “dignity” that comes from in-person appearances. Everyone dresses up. The flags behind the bench. A bit of ceremony to it.
Of the court loses the respect of the people, it basically loses its authority. And I worry that if we lose all the formality, that we’ll gradually lose our respect for the office itself.
