It’s easy to view the past through rose-tinged glasses. I often go to car shows where people say stuff like “man they sure don’t build them like they used to.” And even though I love my old cars, I always go to pains to say “yeah, today they’re faster, safer, more comfortable, more efficient and more reliable”. I love the old cars, and I love the emotion they inspire, but I don’t want to get caught up in remembering the past as some halcyon age that it assuredly was not.
