I think that's two separate things. I think she's also trying to dispell the idea that he quit the team just because he had to get a job, but what I think she's also doing is saying that it should be made public that he quit because of hurt feelings between the coach and the player. I think she has a right to make that known that they felt there was some criticism of the coach. Whether or not it is warranted, is another thing, but it is, according to this post, the reason he quit. I disagree with the responsibility for the reason, but at least we know there is more to it than originally said.

As for the "honor code" remarks... The scholarships are for playing, and if you can't play, you can't blame the coach for the scholarship being taken away. Besides, the scholarship is for paying for school, assuming you're taking enough classes. Otherwise, it is a waste of a scholarship.
