I don't have the advanced stats on FG% by distance for MJ because I don't think they started until 2000, but considering he's always been a worse shooter than Lebron, it's probably not a bad bet, unless he was the king of the mid range J, the area where Lebron shoots a very tiny small percentage of his shots, but hardly hits them.
