The article begs the question: can Y football join while keeping our ESPN deal?
Would/could the Big 12 invite/accept the BYU football program while keeping separate TV contracts?
In other words: all other BYU sports teams would stay where they are now while the BYU football team would play a regular Big 12 league schedule and could compete for the Big 12 title, but no money would change hands unless BYU lands in a Big 12 bowl.
I can't imagine BYU would actually propose something like this unless the P5 conferences suddenly refused to schedule non-P5 teams, but I'm wondering if it could work.
