I get that I'm American and biased, but hard to see how we can be faulted when

they were the ones who attacked us first.

And when, like many have pointed out, the alternative would have been just as deadly for both sides (land invasion).

But I understand that emotion overrides reason in this kind of thing, and I'm sure they needed and still need to forgive us.
