Sorry this is long
I haven't read the book but have heard about it and as a Japanese American I hope that the actions of those over a half a century ago don't affect people's attitudes toward us today. I have experienced racism a number of times and my family has been greatly affected by it. It sucks to be judge and hated for being something you had no control over. My grandparents were a great example to me of forgiveness in the face of racism. They were forced to give up everything and put into the internment camps during WWII. And although not even close to the same degree as the POW camps, my grandparents never complained or talked bad about the United States. They were the most patriotic people I knew. My other grandpa served in the U.S. Military during the war. My whole family that lived during that time are great people and great Americans. I know the Japanese military did many atrocious things during imperialistic Japan, but I hope the actions of a few, recorded in a book, doesn't let racism rear it's ugly head your lives. Sorry I just realized this is long and I'll get off my soapbox.
