I never think that two teams from the same conference
should be in the championship unless there are more spots in the tournament than conference champs, like the NCAA tournament. Baseball, before realignment and cross league games was always the most pure playoffs to me because the season is what determined the contenders. Who cares that the AL East was head and shoulders above all other leagues. I didn't want to see the Yankees and Blue Jays in the World Series just because everyone thought they were the best teams from the best conference. The same is true for the SEC - everyone assumes that they are the best conference, but that does not mean that they have the best team every year.

There was already a winner between Bama and LSU. Why do we need to pointlessly rehash the same game when there were other deserving teams? Who was the BCS Champ that year? Alabama just because they won on the right day? Do you want to go total points? Oh... That was the same too.

It comes to this for me. If you want to be in the discussion - Win your conference.

The other thing taking conference champs would do is eliminate the stupid and biased SOS argument for everything except seeding.
