It didn't "lose all credibility" under Crowton. Where the heck do you think the
nationwide fanbase and brand came from? 3 losing seasons is not enough to undo everything built from 1972-2001. It wasn't good, but their were still talented players on the team, and a huge fanbase that needed no more hope than a failed defensive coordinator could muster to jump right back on the bandwagon.
