stating that a positive attitude simply makes you expend more energy and makes you tired. Those who think positively, tend to be less willing to do "the hard work" needed to get the job done because they just think it will all work out. Maybe that's why our happy-go-lucky Mormon boys won't watch film or work harder in the off season....too much emphasis on hope and love and joy bringing to pass football success.
I'm not saying it's warranted but there are a lot of pissed off African American youth out there who feel disenfranchised by the seemingly racist country they are growing up in and the fact that they can't succeed in school, have low test scores and hate their father who left their mother when they were a baby. They want nothing more than to make it to the NFL and buy Mama a house....that's who you want blitzing the edge and toting the rock.
BYU thinks they are outsiders and underdogs--the fact is they are not. Outside of the game they were most likely coddled and loved their entire life. No matter how much work they put in, or how assignment sound they are--they still don't want it bad enough. They didn't grow up on food stamps in the ghetto eating powdered milk on their cereal every morning and being alone while Mom works the swing shift. The true underdogs are the inner city youth that BYU won't touch with a 10 foot pole.
This will never change. That's why I might recommend having a second favorite college football team to hedge your disappointment each year. I have chosen Notre Dame and recommend all of you consider doing the same.
