It's a dumb argument, though. Just because a team could have overcome bad calls

doesn't make the bad calls irrelevant. If calls favor one team, then that team didn't have to overcome bad calls to win while the other did. It makes the game unfair, which ruins the whole point of playing. It ruins the concept of "a win is a win," which is heavily used in rankings (not to mention RPI).
