The WAC/MWC had some of the best officials in the game, which was a little lucky since they were not a power conference. Scott Thornley, Dave Hall, Randy McCall and Vern Harris (to name a few) all are Final Four reffs and all started in the WAC/MWC. You knew they were good because even though they were not doing many PAC games they did the championship game in the PAC tournament. The WCC is a conference where new officials cut their teeth. That is why the officiating seems so bad. We are used to complaining about the best officials in the country.
