I sure don't know your sources. Japan was on its last legs but they still would have fought to the last and the casualties would have been terrible for the American Infantryman. Also the Loss of life would have been much larger for the Japanese civilian population. One thing that makes me think you aren't to knowledgeable is when you say "A" bombs. Nagasaki was an H bomb. I fought as an infantryman and I would do anything to save my life and the men I served with lives. I don't think most people understand the value of life when their life has never been on the line. Infantrymen are not philosophical, they just want to come home to the people they love. To make an argument against nuc's in Japan totally disregards that and from my perspective is almost treason.
