I'm on my phone so it is hard to go into deep details but here are the probs for Comcast. I'm not saying I agree with Comcast by any means but I don't like net neutrality because we don't know what it really is. No one knows what rules will be enforced and that scares me. I think net neutrality can be good as long as it is clearly defined and not to invasive.
These are concerns cable execs have brought up.
1. Comcast is a TV provider and they don't want customers canceling TV.
2. Comcast doesn't have the available bandwidth people think they do, and net neutrality has already been proven to scare off investors.
3. Comcast charges Netflix for its high usage to compensate for the crazy amount of bandwidth allocated to Netflix. If net neutrality passes, many cable companies have speculated that cable companies will have to respond by limiting data.
4. Streaming is growing faster than bandwidth is.
I used Comcast specifically as an example but it applies to at&t, time warner, cox, etc. Comcast is currently running trials of data limits in select cities in anticipation of net neutrality and increased streaming content.
Again I'm not saying Comcast is right, but I know for sure that low data limits are the likely result, and since it will hurt investment it slows the process of getting better bandwidth to every home in america.
