He talks about demanding excellence, that only the best will do, and then goes out and has terrible games in the spotlight year after year. You judge people by the goals they set for themselves. If I set a really high goal for myself at work, and after a few years actually started to regress and was making no progress toward even getting close to meeting it, I would be fired. And it would be my own fault.
I don't believe the goal of every coach in America should be to win a national championship. Almost no coaches do. And every coach who sets a certain standard for their team usually is upheld to that same standard they set.
I agree that it's a ridiculous goal for BYU, but Bronco has got to stop talking about it if he doesn't plan to get there. Otherwise he should be taken seriously and judged accordingly.
