But it isn't just being difficult, it is being difficult when there is no reason for anyone to put up with it. Texas is allowed to be difficult, beautiful women get away with being difficult. People were annoyed by BYU being difficult because they view BYU as having no reason to think they are special.
The P5 conferences are not impressed with the domination of the WAC.
They know 1984 was a long time ago.
Outsiders like BSU, TCU and Utah crashed the BCS party, and BYU never did.
Unless you are LDS and you value the BYU experience, there is nothing that makes BYU special.

I know BYU is special to many people - but outsiders don't see it and will never value BYU at that level.
