However i do not believe AT ALL your last assertion as fact that:
"the part that is not speculation is I have heard if BYU were in a major conference he would be coming."
We have known for at least a year that this WCC smoke screen would be the most politically palatable and convenient public justification for the Jackson's to use to turn away from BYU.
i do not doubt that you know the family well and that it makes more sense to you that the WCC would be the undeniable reason that he chooses elsewhere. Also, i have no doubt that this reason will be put up front and center upon the announcement to the local press as it takes everyone off the hook.
Nevertheless, i don't believe for a minute that the WCC is the dominant variable or that it would be a major inhibitor; if the Jackson family relationships were working better both with BYU coaches and prospective teammates.
My support for Coach Rose and his crew is 100% because he is a very good coach and great at making friends for BYU. He never had much of a chance for Jabari but i do believe that the Jackson family was his to lose.
i see myself as one whose posts are intended to contribute in a small way to support the BYU BB program and who limits criticisms of players (only one player ever) and coaches to special circumstances.
So what good can come from airing this subject on the public board? Well, FWIW, i think this may do some good for future recruiting. Also, i haven't given up on BYU's chances for Frank despite that fact the Cougars are not even in the current discussion as far as the Jacksons are concerned. The Jackson have been known to do 180s, and it may be a question of how much trust has been eroded or whether it is continuing to be a relationship where trust still has a chance to be enhanced.
p.s. Despite the repeated assertions by Santiago and others that Jabari would have been a Cougar had BYU had a a proper practice facility, no one, and i mean no one credible believes that. However, it was apparently an effective sales pitch.
