Killing for killing's own sake is kind of distasteful
I'm not a hunter myself, but I have no problem with hunting deer, elk, ducks, etc. It puts food on the table and doesn't endanger the survival of any species. Most of the hunters I know are actually big conservationists.

But what point is there to killing solely for 'sport'? Of baiting an alpha male out of a protected area, killing it, cutting off its head to hang as a trophy on your wall while leaving the carcass to rot, and probably endangering the survival of the rest of that lion's pride in the process. Nothing about that seems 'sporting' to me.

I agree that there are more pressing problems in the world at large, but we don't have to ignore smaller problems because there are also bigger problems.
