What drives me crazy is how they have big pep rallies to brainwash them.
My 5 year old came home the other day all excited to tell us about how they can get an iPad just by running laps around the schoolyard.

What he failed to understand is that he also had to raise $300 from family/friends to sponsor each lap.

It made me kind of upset really. They are freaking 5 yr olds! They know exactly what they are doing. My kid was crushed but finally understood once we sat him down to explain why we aren't going to participate.

They give us the line about not having enough money for school programs, but we pay ridiculously high personal income taxes here in California, so once they cut all the funding for public employee pensions, illegals, and entitlements, then we can talk about why more money is needed for education. It's definitely not from lack of revenue.

Even with all that, they already do WAY more for kids here in schools than I've seen in any other state. They aren't exactly in dire circumstances.
